Submission Guidelines:
- Nurses with prior permanent or per diem experience at certain hospitals are not eligible for travel assignments at the same facilities regardless of time elapsed.
- Health care professionals (HCP) can only be submitted to one need at a time.
- Full SSN, DOB, and RTO must be provided for submissions.
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not required.
- Scheduling is determined by the needs of the facility with no self-scheduling or block scheduling allowed.
- A New York State (NYS) license is required at the time of submission but preliminary screening is possible without it.
- Orientation for RNs and LPNs occurs bi-weekly, while orientations for allied professionals are held weekly on Mondays.
- Do not include photo ID and SSN card in submission packets.
Attire:
- Specific scrub and shoe guidelines are provided upon onboarding.
- No artificial or gel nails; chipped polish is not allowed.
General Information:
- Covid and flu declinations are accepted.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or the American Red Cross is acceptable and can be obtained prior to joining.
- All compliance documents must be submitted seven days before starting.
- The facility's electronic medical record (EMR) system is Cerner.
- Travelers are required to float between units within their competencies.
Requisition Comments and Notes:
- Shift is 7 PM to 7:30 AM with a 30-minute unpaid break, and every other weekend is required.
- Floating to Stepdown and/or Med Surg units may be necessary.
- Must possess cardiac surgery skills and have experience with CABG and valve surgeries, Swans, and IABPs. The NYS license is necessary before submission.
- Recent Nursys verification is required.
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience with at least one year in the specialty is required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required, which can be obtained before starting if necessary.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is based on acuity with a typical range of 1:1-2 for critical care areas.
Unit Specifics:
- The ICU and intermediate care units have a total of 36 beds, with 24 designated for critical care and 12 for step-down or intermediary care.
- The ICU is equipped to handle critically ill adults requiring specialized interventions such as hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and support post-vascular, thoracic, and cardiac surgeries.
- Features a dedicated cardiac care area on the second floor designed for emergency situations.
Float Requirements:
- Floating is required as dictated by unit needs.
Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications are mandatory.
