Qualifications:

• Education:

• Associate's degree or equivalent

• Experience:

• Three years of full-time experience in the practice of Radiation Therapy

• Licenses and Certifications:

• License to practice as a radiation therapist in the State of New York
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Preferred)

Professional Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of radiation therapy technology practices and treatment planning systems
• Familiarity with linear accelerators, simulators, and multi-leaf collimators
• Proficiency in various software applications for treatments
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Advanced competency in components of radiation therapy technology practices
• Time management skills and ability to manage one's own time and the time of others
• Age-specific competency knowledge

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent use of hands or fingers to manipulate, touch, or handle objects
• Regular standing, walking, and sitting
• Occasional reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling
• Regular lifting and/or moving of up to ten pounds, occasionally over one hundred pounds
• Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical guidance and consultation to Radiation Therapists and other Radiation Medicine staff
• Recommend improvements to departmental operations to enhance efficiency and patient care
• Perform all required duties of a Radiation Therapist, including simulation and localization of treatment areas
• Monitor and perform patient treatments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to treatment plans
• Maintain and document treatment records and summaries, creating treatment charts
• Produce x-ray films for verification of treatment areas and critical structures
• Assist in specialized procedures and treatments as prescribed
• Maintain and manage Radiation Medicine personal film and lifetime records
• Perform equipment safety checks and inspections, including primary and secondary equipment safety checks
• Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of Radiation Therapy technology students
• Maintain equipment inventory and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures
• Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs and in-service meetings
• Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department
• Attend meetings as required and perform other related duties as assigned

Behavior Characteristics:

• The candidate must have a minimum of three years of full-time Radiation Therapy experience
• License to practice as a radiation therapist in the State of New York is required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required
