Position Overview

Department: Addiction Rehabilitation

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• De-Escalation Training

• Capacity: 23 patients
• Voluntary unit with stable patients managed by counselors

• Ages 18 and older, rehabilitating from substances such as alcohol, crack cocaine, and PCP
• Behavioral issues leading to discharge if rules are not followed
• Possible transfers to psychiatric care for psychological concerns

• Required: Ability to assess detox symptoms
• Preferred: MedSurg experience, psych experience is advantageous
• Necessary: Phlebotomy skills and experience with EKGs
• Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year

• No routine IVs; may start IVs during medical emergencies
• EMR System: Allscripts
• Charge Nurses/House Supervisors available via phone during non-business hours

• No use of physical restraints
• No support from Nurse Aides or Mental Health Specialists
• Respiratory Therapists not available for oxygen or treatments

• Responsible for patient EKGs if needed
• Floating to Rehab (sister unit), clinic, or psychiatry if necessary and if experienced
• Security escort provided for nighttime float shifts

• LPNs wear Kelly Green scrubs

• Five days of unit-specific orientation
• Charting System: Allscripts

• Work every other weekend
• One winter and one summer holiday required

• Flexible cancellation policy based on assignment length

• No BSN required
• Valid license required for submission
