Responsibilities:

• Apply nursing knowledge and skills in the delivery of care.
• Assess patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and data analysis.
• Create culturally relevant, individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• Promote and protect patient health, safety, and rights.
• Build trust, respect, and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Delegate appropriate tasks and interventions based on the individual's education, training, and scope of practice.
• Teach and motivate patients and families to continue care and healing at home.
• Assess learning styles and structure educational sessions to maximize understanding.
• Evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality improvement activities.
• Engage in self-evaluation to identify strengths and areas for professional development.
• Develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship with patients and families.
• Demonstrate skills in interventions, including medication administration.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention strategies to safeguard public safety.

Qualifications:

• NYS RN Licensure
• BLS and ACLS Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• NIHSS Certification
• Minimum of one year of experience in a Med/Surg environment

Work Environment:

Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
