Position Summary

Assist in the preparation and performance of gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens using section guidelines and voice recognition system for dictation as available.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Education & Experience Requirements

• New York State license required.
• B.S. Degree in Biology or related science with certification of Pathologists Assistant Program or equivalent; minimum of 2 years experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment

• May be exposed to chemicals necessary for performing required tasks, listed in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database, accessible through the hospital's intranet or at the hospital switchboard.
• Operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as phones, computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
• Ability to use laboratory equipment.
• Ability to greet and direct staff, visitors, and callers.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
• Ability to move about the office frequently.
