Position Description

Seeking an experienced RT with specialized experience in Interventional Radiology (IR), with preference given to candidates who also have cardiac experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist physicians in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters in compliance with policies and procedures.

Operate interventional and other equipment/devices as appropriate during diagnostic interventional procedures.

Provide care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to ensure safety and comfort, including explaining procedures and answering questions to reduce anxiety.

Transfer patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers.

Coordinate work to optimize productivity.

Set up sterile trays and clean/dispose of them after procedures.

Engage in activities to promote professional growth and development.

Assist physician with administration of contrast media.

Maintain departmental inventory.

Conduct preventive maintenance of interventional equipment, including cleaning and routine safety checks.

Education/Experience/Training Requirements:

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist II (RCIS):
Ability to communicate in English.
Hold one of the qualifications: an Associate's degree or higher in Cardiovascular Technology, or an Associate's degree or higher with a minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Course.
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification.
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist EP:
Five years of recent experience in Cardiovascular EP.
Two of the following certifications: Cardiac Interventional (CI), Vascular Interventional (VI), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
IABP Course.
Special Procedures Tech 1:
Ability to communicate in English.
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of two years post-technical school radiology experience or recent experience as a Special Procedures Technologist.
Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Registered by the ARRT.
Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a Radiologic Technologist.
Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Exam or Basic Arrhythmia course completion.
Special Procedures Tech 2:
Meets all qualifications of Tech 1.
RCIS, CI, or VI certification or three years of recent experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology.
Special Procedures Tech 3:
Meets all qualifications of Tech 1.
Five years recent experience in Cardiovascular EP or two certifications/training program completion.
