Description

Available Shifts:

6a-6p, EOW, Holidays, call requirements per unit needs
9a-9p, EOW, Holidays, call requirements per unit needs

Required to float between PAA and PACU depending on the need.

Position Summary:

A professional caregiver who plans, provides, and directs patient care and teaching, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders. Acts as a liaison between physicians, the patient, and family. Assists in the orientation process of new personnel, and may participate in health center and department committees. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current licensure by Ohio State Board of Nursing

Required Length and Type of Experience:

Previous experience in specific nursing area preferred.

Required Licensure, Certification, or Registry:

Current license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing
CPR certification required
ACLS preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts a comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessment of the patient according to established standards, including the assessment of safety and educational needs.
Participates in the establishment of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment data, with all other involved disciplines, and communicates this plan of care as appropriate.
Implements and evaluates the plan of care based on identified patient goals and intended outcomes. Modifies the plan of care, based on reassessment of the patient's status.
Completes all documentation according to established standards and utilizes the established documentation tools appropriately.
Assesses the readiness of the patient and significant other to learn and implements the individualized education plan according to the need.
Actively participates in the Department of Nursing or unit-based initiatives, including activities such as the provision of in-service opportunities or volunteering to serve as project point for committees and task forces.
Provides age-appropriate care for the specific population served as detailed by the organization.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Behavior Characteristics:

2 years of minimum nursing experience in specialty area
OH Nursing License required
BLS through American Heart Association required
