Description:

Must be able to perform phlebotomy and have IV experience
Requires 2+ years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience
Travel experience is required
Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
May float between facilities as needed

Purpose of Position:

Coordinates nursing care
Demonstrates leadership by working cooperatively with team members to maintain standards in a critical care setting

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Practice according to mandatory requirements and department expectations
Provide care with a customer service approach
Utilize the nursing process in patient care
Employ internal and external resources effectively
Identify and report signs of neglect/abuse according to legal requirements
Manage terminally ill patients and those with pain
Use time management techniques effectively
Respect and follow patients' advance directives
Perform skills safely and according to protocols
Manage patients with chest drainage devices and Intravenous Therapy
Use Electronic Medical Records accurately
Manage patients receiving epidural analgesia
Demonstrate knowledge in cardiac medication administration and response assessment
Manage patients on telemetry monitoring
Respond appropriately in emergencies
Provide post-operative and orthopedic care
Additional duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Training:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing school
Maintains current licensure in Massachusetts
BLS certification required
Completion of Medical/Surgical IV Medication Module
Completion of Basic Arrhythmia exam
