    Job Description

    The Retail Pharmacist provides comprehensive retail pharmacy services at Modoc Medical Center under the direction of the Retail Pharmacy Manager. The role is responsible for prescription review and dispensing, medication counseling, pharmacy inventory, controlled substance procedures, and maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

    The Pharmacist works closely with patients, pharmacy personnel, physicians, and other healthcare professionals while supporting safe and efficient retail pharmacy operations.

    Responsibilities
    Compound and dispense prescribed medications and pharmaceuticals.
    Review prescriptions for accuracy and determine appropriate formulas and ingredients.
    Provide medication information and counseling to customers regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage when counseling is accepted.
    Direct pharmacy workers involved in medication preparation, packaging, and labeling.
    Maintain quality assurance procedures and controlled substance security.
    Manage pharmacy records, patient information, inventory, and charge systems.
    Monitor third-party prescription systems and resolve rejection issues.
    Report prescription errors and follow medication incident procedures.
    Maintain awareness of loss prevention procedures.
    Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
    Maintain pharmacy policies and required documentation.
    Maintain required continuing education and stay current with pharmacy regulations and programs.
    Support customer service and pharmacy program initiatives.
    Assist with technician-related duties when required by staffing needs.
    Requirements
    Current, active California Pharmacist License required.
    Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an appropriately accredited pharmacy program.
    Current BLS certification required.
    Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience listed in the job details.
    Must meet applicable federal, state, and local requirements governing retail pharmacy services.
    Must maintain required annual continuing education.
    Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    Candidate Eligibility
    Active California pharmacist license required.
    Minimum 3 years of experience required.
    BLS certification required.
    Must be available for the Monday–Friday daytime schedule.
    Must meet all applicable California pharmacy practice requirements.
