Job Description

Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night assignment in the Family Birthing Center at Heart of the Rockies Medical in Salida, Colorado.

The RN will independently assess and care for labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal patients while collaborating with patients, families, providers, and the healthcare team. The role includes patient education, care planning, monitoring, documentation, emergency response, and patient advocacy throughout the episode of care.

Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
Assess and monitor maternal and neonatal patients.
Evaluate patient conditions and identify healthcare needs.
Develop and implement individualized care plans.
Monitor patient responses and evaluate outcomes of care.
Provide breastfeeding assistance and education as needed.
Educate mothers regarding infant care and postpartum wellness.
Document patient care, assessments, interventions, and education in the medical record.
Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing leadership.
Collaborate with nursery staff in the care of mother/baby couplets.
Assist physicians with procedures.
Respond to emergencies and assist other nursing units when possible.
Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly Family Birthing Center environment.
Advocate for patients and support their care needs.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience required.
Current, active Colorado RN license required.
BLS certification required.
NRP certification required.
ACLS certification preferred.
Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program required.
Labor & Delivery/FBC experience required for the role.
Candidate Eligibility
Active Colorado RN license required.
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
BLS and NRP certifications required.
ACLS preferred.
Must be available for 12-hour night shifts.
Must be available for weekends and required holiday coverage.
Must be able to provide independent care to labor, postpartum, and neonatal patients.
