Job Summary
An experienced Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-acuity patient care within a 42-bed ICU consisting of Neuro/Medical ICU, CTICU, and Surgical/Trauma ICU areas.
The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of ICU experience, required travel nursing experience, and strong critical care skills including CRRT and Prismaflex experience. Heart/cardiac experience is highly preferred.
Unit & Patient Population
42 ICU beds: East 20, West 22
Neuro/Medical ICU: 22 beds
CTICU: 6 beds
Surgical/Trauma ICU: 14 beds
Common diagnoses include:
Stroke and neuro intervention
Sepsis and altered mental status
Respiratory failure
CHF and post-STEMI care
Cardiogenic shock
Cardiovascular surgery
AAA surgery
Trauma and major postoperative cases
Specialty equipment includes IABP, CRRT (Prismaflex/NxStage), ventriculostomy, ICP monitoring, and TTM/Arctic Sun
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients.
Perform assessments, reassessments, and ongoing monitoring.
Manage patients requiring advanced critical care interventions.
Demonstrate proficiency with CRRT and Prismaflex.
Monitor and care for patients with complex neurological, cardiac, medical, and surgical conditions.
Provide safe patient care across assigned ICU areas.
Float to other appropriate units as required, excluding Behavioral Health and the ER unless holding.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC.
Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies.
Collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Provide patient and family education and emotional support.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience – Required
4–5 years of ICU experience – Preferred
Recent experience in one or more of the following:
ICU
SICU
CTICU
Trauma ICU
MS ICU
Neuro ICU
Travel nursing experience – Required
CRRT and Prismaflex experience – Required
Current AHA BLS – Required
Current AHA ACLS – Required
Current NIHSS – Required
Active New York RN license – Required
NURSYS report verifying active NY license and all active RN licenses
EPIC experience – Required
