Description

Position Requirements

- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License in the state of Georgia
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
- Minimum of one year of paid experience as an LPN in a similar setting

Job Responsibilities

- Administers medications, assists with patient teaching, assists Health Aides and other staff with patient care and non-clinical tasks.
- Performs approved techniques to prevent and safely manage aggressive behaviors.
- Documents care according to policy, provides direct care, and participates with patients in divisional activities.
- Records and reports all observed signs, symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Follows policies and procedures in reporting medication errors. Administers medications to patients, orally or by injection, including intra-venous medications and treatments.
- Participates with interdisciplinary team. Assists with admitting, discharging, and transferring patients.
- Takes action to ensure patients’ safety and to maintain a safe environment.
- Participates in team meetings, development of plan of care, and shift reports.
- Participates in an orientation consisting of supervised on the job training.
- Be able to recognize Medical Emergencies and respond appropriately.
- Maintain acceptable standards of patient care consistent with Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Department policies, including diet and physical activity.
- Responds to hospital codes as appropriate.
