Summary:

Coordinate all aspects of the pre-transplant process for those patients referred to the Stem Cell Transplant Program. Provide education regarding stem cell transplant as a treatment option to patient/family and appropriate members of the transplant team, referring facilities, case managers of third party provider, and other appropriate team members. Provide education/information to the patient/family undergoing stem cell transplant. Assist with identification of educational needs of the staff that work in the Bone Marrow Transplant Program and communicate these needs to the Nurse Manager and/or H/O Educator. Plan work priorities in accordance to program goals.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing required.
  • 2 years experience in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant or comparable related experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills are essential. Organizational skills, problem solving and critical thinking abilities essential. Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment is essential. Motivated, self-directed, and independent thinker is beneficial. Writing skills are helpful. Computer experience is helpful. Attention to detail is essential.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Texas.
  • Current BLS.
  • Certification in related field required.
