Description
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, TX. The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications, reviewing medication therapy, counseling patients, collaborating with healthcare providers, supervising pharmacy technicians, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, DHA, and military pharmacy regulations.
General Duties
- Provide pharmaceutical services within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility.
- Perform duties in accordance with contract requirements, DHA policies, and applicable pharmacy regulations.
Specific Duties
- Review, verify, and dispense prescription medications safely and accurately.
- Counsel patients on medication use, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Monitor medication therapy and collaborate with providers to optimize patient care.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure the accuracy of medications prepared.
- Maintain controlled substance records, pharmacy inventory, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in quality improvement, medication safety, and pharmacy education activities.
Qualifications:
Degree
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).
Education
Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - Active
Experience
Minimum 1,500–2,000 hours of pharmacy experience, including at least 500 hours in a retail or institutional pharmacy, completed within the last two years after training.
Licensure
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Pharmacist in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
License must remain current and in good standing throughout the duration of employment.
Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and medication therapy management.
- Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
- Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and controlled substance requirements.
- Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Proficiency with electronic pharmacy and health record systems.
Schedule
- Full-time
- 40 hours per week
- Hospital operates 24/7
- Rotating 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts
- Days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and training holidays may be required.
- Overtime authorized only when required to support mission needs or continuity of patient care.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 25 pounds, and safely perform pharmacy duties requiring accuracy, manual dexterity, and frequent interaction with patients and healthcare staff.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a military hospital or outpatient pharmacy where pharmacists collaborate with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to provide safe, effective medication therapy while maintaining strict regulatory, quality, and patient safety standards.
Immunization Requirements
Must meet all DHA/CRDAMC occupational health requirements, including required immunizations and annual health screenings prior to and during employment.
Security Requirements
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required background clearance, Common Access Card (CAC), and complete all mandatory DHA/Army security and HIPAA training.
