Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This vital role involves providing accurate and efficient medication preparation and distribution within a hospital setting, ensuring safe and effective patient care. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense inpatient medications, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy agents, and unit-dose packages, in compliance with USP 797/800 standards.
- Process medication orders with precision using the pharmacy information system, verifying patient data, allergies, and appropriate dosing prior to pharmacist review.
- Handle controlled substances responsibly, including receipt, inventory reconciliation, diversion monitoring, and waste documentation in accordance with DEA regulations and facility policies.
- Support automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) by restocking, maintaining, and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with nursing staff and pharmacists.
- Assist in sterile compounding and IV preparation, ensuring sterile technique and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure adherence to safety, privacy, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Pharmacy Technology or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of inpatient pharmacy technician experience in a hospital or health system setting.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) certification required.
- Valid state pharmacy technician licensure/registration as applicable.
- Proficiency in IV compounding and sterile techniques is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to patient safety.
Scheduling & Shift:
- Night shift: Four 10-hour shifts per week, from 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
