Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required (CRTs not acceptable)
- North Carolina respiratory license in hand prior to submission
- Current BLS, PALS, and NRP required; ACLS preferred
- Experience in neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, ventilator and airway management
- Familiarity with infant/peds ventilators (e.g., Draeger, Hamilton, Newport) and high-risk delivery support
- Ability to work night shifts and scheduled weekends; may float to adult med floors as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care for neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 3 NICU, PICU, and pediatric units, including airway and ventilator management
- Perform procedures such as intubation, extubation, and blood gas collection/analysis and interpret results to inform patient care
- Operate and troubleshoot infant/pediatric ventilators and related respiratory equipment (HFOV, SiPAP, transport vents, high-flow devices)
- Participate in resuscitation and high-risk delivery support and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement respiratory plans
- Document care and communicate effectively using the facility EMR system (Cerner) and adhere to unit policies, staffing ratios, and infection control standards
- Cover variable weekends (at least 4 shifts per 6-week schedule) and participate in required on-call or float coverage as directed

Job Description
This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Respiratory Therapist to work nights in a Level 3 NICU/Pediatrics service line in Asheville, NC. The role focuses on neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, including ventilator and airway management, high-risk delivery support, and performance of invasive and noninvasive respiratory procedures. The position requires an RRT with a North Carolina license in hand, current BLS/PALS/NRP certifications, and experience with pediatric ventilators and critical care workflows. The assignment is 36 hours per week on the 18:30–07:00 shift, and clinicians should be prepared for scheduled weekend coverage and occasional float duties to adult medical floors.
