Job Title: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Location: Eureka, California
Shift: Night shift (18:00–06:30)
Schedule Type: 3x12-hour shifts
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Labor & Delivery RN responsible for providing comprehensive maternal and newborn care in a high-risk, high-volume obstetric unit. Duties include antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care such as fetal monitoring, assisting vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, managing obstetric emergencies (hemorrhage/shock, PIH), medication administration (Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives), IV therapy, and neonatal support including APGAR scoring, resuscitation, thermoregulation, and breastfeeding support. Must be experienced in high-risk OB cases, assist with C-sections, and support culturally diverse patient populations in a teaching hospital environment.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience
Experience with patient ratios 1:1–3
Certifications:
ACLS
BLS
NRP
AWHONN Intermediate
Experience with:
Labor & Delivery management including vaginal and cesarean deliveries
High-risk obstetric care (antepartum and intrapartum)
Neonatal care in delivery room (APGAR, newborn stabilization)
Fetal monitoring and interpretation (external and internal monitoring)
IV therapy, blood administration, and medication drips (Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin)
Circulating in C-sections and obstetric emergency response.
