Primary position will be in the Rehab unit, however traveler will float to Med/Surg if not needed in RehabJob DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.Renders professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital and carries out orders placed by provider responsible for the patients medical care. Provides comprehensive clinical documentation including care plans each shiftSeeks feedback regarding practice and takes actions as appropriate.Communicates patient information appropriate for continuity and safe care through Bedside shift report, Multidisciplinary rounds, and Hourly Rounding (AIDET)Compliant in achieving unit specific competencies and requirementsCompletes all net learning modules within timeframe identified.Helps to promote a culture of well-being (ex. decreasing alarm fatigue).Promotes a positive culture/atmosphere within the department each shift.Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following established procedures and protocolsIdentifies and assists in correction of patient care safety issues.Works within guidelines of Just Culture Environment to promote error reporting and adoption of safe practices.Assures issues are addressed through appropriate use of the chain of commandParticipates in Daily unit-based safety HuddlesKnowledge and understanding of the organization's over-all strategic planRemains up to date with unit-based nurse sensitive indicators (such as CAUTI, CLABSI, CDIFF, HAPU, FALLS, HH and VAE).Actively participates in quality initiatives and performance improvement to improve patient outcomes.Collaborates with nurses in other department/units to draw upon expertise in other clinical areas/specialtiesSeeks opportunities to assist all team membersDevelops and implements performance goals based on self-assessment and performance feedbackAssures patient education materials are culturally competentServes as preceptor for new nursesParticipates in DNV survey readiness.Demonstrates practice that is consistent with the tenets of shared governance and with the philosophy of the unit and the organization.Assists with solution identification in response to problems and conflictsEffectively delegates aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel.Collaborates in planning, supervising, and instructing other nurses and assistants.Works collaboratively with nursing students and instructorsParticipates in peer feedback process of annual reviews.Participates in the employee engagement surveyDemonstrates characteristics of the SPIRIT of St. Joseph Hospital with a commitment to my co-workers and holds peers accountable for the sameAvoids use of unauthorized overtimeManages use of ETO (Earned Time Off) per policyCompletes dysrhythmia course prior to completion of orientation. Required for all telemetry-based departments.Maintains current nursing licensure and certifications, required for the departmentOther duties as consistent with this role.*For Occupational Health: Enter orders for labs, x rays, EKGs or other testing as per protocol. Access providers in basket to follow up on labs and tests ordered per protocol. Document point of care tests after completion of testing.Job RequirementsJob Knowledge and SkillsBasic Dysrhythmia preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientationCrisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientationEducation and ExperienceCurrent New Hampshire RN license requiredBasic Life Support certification requiredGraduate of an approved Nursing program preferred
