About
Tempe is a college town just east of Phoenix, home to Arizona State University. Tempe Town Lake sits at the north end of downtown, where shops, restaurants, bars and clubs line Mill Avenue. The 220-acre manmade reservoir is popular for fishing, paddleboarding and kayaking, while the miles of surrounding paths and parks bring many for tranquil walks, bike rides and Segway tours. Shops, restaurants, bars and clubs line Mill Avenue. Tempe frequently hosts food and music festivals, including the Tempe Festival of the Arts, held twice yearly downtown, which attracts over 350 artists to the sidewalks and streets to display their works. On the ASU campus, the ASU Gammage is a landmark performing arts center designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright that hosts concerts, dance performances and touring Broadway shows.
