As the Lead you will support endoscopy technicians, ensure procedure rooms, equipment, and reprocessing meet safety and regulatory standards. Assists with procedures, coordinates daily workflow, trains staff, and maintains efficient, high-quality endoscopy services.

Role Purpose

The Lead Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the setup of procedural rooms and works in collaboration with the RN to assist physicians during procedures. Endoscopy Technicians are responsible for the reprocessing, high level disinfection, and associated documentation of endoscopes and accessories in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. The tech manages inventory and ordering of specialty supplies for the department and arranges the repair of endoscopes and equipment. Under the direction of an RN, the Endoscopy Technician assists with patient care in pre-op and recovery. This position requires an individual who is detail oriented, can prioritize tasks, works well in a team environment, and will advocate for the safety of our patients. In addition to Endoscopy tech responsibilities, the Lead Endoscopy Technician is responsible for completing the tech schedule on a 6 week basis, leading monthly Endoscopy tech huddles, completing new hire orientation or delegating to other qualified staff, and managing endoscope processing equipment maintenance/repairs with biomed and/or vendors.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepares endoscopy suites for procedures, including the setup of endoscopes, accessories, and preparation of procedural supplies. Verifies that all equipment is working properly.
  • Under the direction of a physician and RN, assists with procedures including handling of supplies used for tissue collection, hemostasis, and various other therapeutic interventions.
  • Assists in specimen collection according to hospital policy.
  • Completes pre-cleaning, reprocessing, and ensures proper storage of endoscopes and accessories in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
  • Advocates for patient safety in pre-procedure, procedural, and recovery settings. Assists in stocking of procedure and reprocessing rooms.
