Nexus MedPro Staffing is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment with Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center – Rapid Response / 5th West Intermediate Care Unit in Winston-Salem, NC.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience
- ACLS required
- BLS/BCLS required
- NIHSS required
- Strong arterial line experience
- Must be comfortable titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- IV starts and conscious sedation experience
- Central line and PICC management
- Blood product administration
- Heparin and IV insulin protocols
- Chest tube management
- CPAP/BiPAP and HFNC
- Tracheostomy management
- Rapid Response experience
- Epic experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Unit Details
- ICU stepdown / high-acuity PCU
- Typical ratios: 1:3–4
- Approximately 20 beds
- Average daily census around 18
- Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Common diagnoses include:
- Respiratory distress
- Unstable hemodynamics
- GI bleeds
- Withdrawal
- CVA
- Post-op GYN, GU, GI, neuro, orthopedic and thoracic patients
- Pre/post OB patients with complications
- Common drips include:
- Cardizem
- Nitro
- Precedex
- Cardene
- Levophed
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
- Neo
- One pressor drip per patient; patients requiring more are transferred to ICU
- No ventilated patients on the unit
Scheduling
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to sister ICCU as needed
- Up to 7 days RTO for Aya auto-offer
- No RTO during first week
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- No additional RTO after booking
- Navy or white scrubs
- 24 hours orientation
