Job Summary and Qualifications

The OR Scrub Tech/Surgical Technologist assists with the nursing care of patients under the supervision of an OR Registered Nurse and functions as a sterile scrub person caring for patients undergoing surgery within the OR suite.

• You will utilize principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining a sterile field
• Demonstrate competency in scrubbing as it relates to unit scope of care
• Plan and provide equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs
• Promote cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the operating room
• Work as a member of the Surgical Services team to promote teamwork
• You will demonstrate flexibility to perform other functions within Surgical Services and procedural areas to assist in the smooth operation of the departments and maintain competencies as appropriate
• Participate in department on-call assignments and demonstrate flexibility to cover staffing as needed

What qualifications you will need:

• Surgical Technology Program graduate, or equivalent training (required)

• Certified Surgical Technologist and Licensed with the Commonwealth of Virginia (required)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required)

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician (preferred)
