Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Travel Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will provide skilled treatment to patients working to improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and functional independence.

Responsibilities
Provide physical therapy treatments according to the established plan of care.
Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and functional activities.
Perform gait, balance, transfer, and mobility training.
Assist with strengthening, stretching, and range-of-motion exercises.
Utilize appropriate therapeutic modalities as permitted by state regulations and facility policies.
Monitor patient response to treatment and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility techniques, and safety precautions.
Assist patients with the appropriate use of walkers, canes, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices.
Document treatments, patient progress, and responses accurately in the EMR.
Participate in interdisciplinary care and communicate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and facility policies.
Assist with discharge planning and home exercise programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.

Requirements
Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
Current PTA license in the state of assignment.
Current BLS certification may be required.
Recent PTA experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise, mobility, transfers, and patient safety.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
