Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Travel Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures and provide high-quality patient care. The Nuclear Medicine Tech prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, operates specialized imaging equipment, obtains diagnostic-quality images, and works closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures according to physician orders and facility protocols.
Prepare, verify, and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
Operate gamma cameras, SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET, or other nuclear medicine equipment as required.
Position patients properly and obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
Explain procedures to patients and answer questions regarding the examination.
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
Follow radiation-safety procedures and ALARA principles.
Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical administration and imaging procedures.
Perform quality-control checks on imaging equipment and report problems appropriately.
Follow radioactive-material handling, storage, and disposal procedures.
Maintain compliance with facility, state, and federal radiation-safety regulations.
Collaborate with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain patient privacy, safety, and comfort throughout examinations.
Common Procedures

Depending on the facility, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist may perform:

Bone scans
Cardiac stress and myocardial perfusion studies
PET/CT imaging
SPECT/SPECT-CT
Thyroid scans and uptake studies
Renal scans
Hepatobiliary (HIDA) scans
Lung/VQ scans
Gastric emptying studies
Other diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Current ARRT(N) and/or NMTCB certification, depending on facility requirements.
Active state license or registration where required.
BLS certification may be required.
Recent nuclear medicine clinical experience.
Experience with relevant imaging equipment and radiopharmaceuticals.
Strong knowledge of radiation safety and patient-care procedures.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced imaging department.
