We are seeking a(an) Lead Nuclear Medicine Tech for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. Did you get into our industry for these reasons? PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Nuclear Medicine Tech conducts organ or body scans with radioactive isotopes in order to provide diagnostic aid to physicians. The position's tasks and responsibilities include:  

  • Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients in accordance with physicians' orders.  

  • Positions patients and adjusts immobilization devices.  

  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses concerns.  

  • Administers and records isotope dosage.  

  • Performs diagnostic studies on patients using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.  

  • Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.  

  • Maintains and calibrates equipment.  

  • Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.  

  • Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.  

  • Assists with transporting patients.  

  • Orients and mentors new staff members.  

  • Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.  

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. 

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.  

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.  

  • Ability to make independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity and a positive attitude. Initiative and judgment required in assuming responsibilities. 

 

Lead responsibilities include:  

  • Creates work schedules to ensure service. 

  • Aides Director with annual budget and financial needs. 

  • Aides Director with evaluation and assessment of NM personnel. 

  • Aides Director in assessing service and technical needs. 

  • Aides Director with creating policy / procedures as needed. 

  • Aides management in training other techs in NM. 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

Education/Skills 
Associate Degree 
Technical or vocational training  

Experience 
Prefer at least 1 year of NM experience  

Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications 
ARRT(N) or CNMTB, MRT, and BLS required.
