Requirements:  2 years of Surgical Technologist experience

-Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
-American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS).

Job Title: SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST LEVEL 3

Job Summary: As a member of the healthcare team, collaborates with the surgical team to provide care for patients, ensuring that the goals of the patients are met and the mission of the hospital is carried out. Follows the standards of practice set forth by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and hospital policy. Demonstrates critical thinking skills as evidenced by problem-solving and anticipating the needs of the surgeon/surgical procedure.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Surgical Technologist (this may include a combination of Surgical Technician experience or Surgical Extern experience).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS).

Additional Information:

• Creates and maintains a sterile environment, monitors for breaks in sterility, and initiates corrective action when necessary.
• Independently scrubs cases at an expert proficiency for specialty and/or generalist case mix.
• Utilizes appropriate resources to provide safe, effective, and fiscally responsible service.
• Applies surgeons' preference lists to determine instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Uses standardized set-up when applicable and ensures instrumentation is sterile for use by inspecting sterilization indicators and parameters.
• Acts as a resource for all surgical personnel and demonstrates superior knowledge in advanced surgical procedures.
• Participates in ongoing educational activities and shares findings with peers and team.
• Supports and participates in departmental cost-saving initiatives and escalates ideas to Service Coordinator and OR Manager.
• Demonstrates flexibility in respect to the surgical schedule to support patient care needs.
• Maintains and practices Surgical Technology with dignity and respect to the highest standards of professional conduct and patient care.
