RN Corrections for Juvenile Detention Center - WellPath (Travel)
Location:
136 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60612, United States
Position Overview:
Join our team as a Registered Nurse at the IL Youth Center, a Juvenile Detention Facility dedicated to providing secure, temporary housing for youth aged 10 to 16 awaiting adjudication. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young individuals in a correctional setting.
Schedule & Duration:
- 13-week assignment starting April 20, 2026
- 5x8 evening shifts (8 hours per shift)
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
Pay & Benefits:
- Hourly rate: $20.00
- Weekly housing stipend: $1,000
- Weekly pay rate (including OT): $47/$71
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates welcome after two weeks of employment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to juvenile detainees in a correctional environment
- Assess and monitor health conditions of youth, including administering medications
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Document all nursing activities accurately and timely
- Follow facility policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards
- Respond effectively to emergencies and provide first aid as needed
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Illinois or qualified state
- No minimum experience required, but previous correctional or pediatric experience is a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion
- Strong communication and organizational skills
