Join a leading acute-care hospital as a CVICU RN in High Point, NC. This community-based facility is dedicated to providing exceptional care and offers a supportive environment for its staff. As a member of the healthcare team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside interns, residents, and nursing students while caring for patients with complex medical needs.

Unit Information:

• 8 beds with an average daily census of 7
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• General medical patients requiring advanced hemodynamics and continuous monitoring
• Patients undergoing cardiac interventional procedures
• Vascular or thoracic surgical patients requiring continuous support
• Respiratory compromise or failure needing high-flow oxygen devices
• Renal failure with CRRT capabilities
• Severe sepsis with hemodynamic instability
• Cardiac arrest requiring targeted temperature management
• Neuro-medical cases such as stroke and traumatic falls
• DKA/HHNK requiring insulin drips

Patient Ratios:

• RN: ICU Level of care is 1:2; special high acuity is 1:1
• Overflow patients have a ratio of 1:3 or 1:4
• CNA support varies

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Skills Required:

• Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
• Cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation
• Arterial lines and titration of drips
• Ventilator care and vascular lines
• Post procedure site care
• Advanced cardiac support experience

Support within the Department:

• CNA support available
• Charge nurse and rapid response team present
• 24/7 respiratory therapist and intensivist

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Baxter
• Monitors: Philips Intellivue

Orientation:

• Week 1 orientation includes NTO, EPIC training, and departmental specific training with an RN preceptor

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
