As a skilled and compassionate RN in the Emergency Department (ER), you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. This position is located at a leading acute-care hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, known for its Level 1 Trauma designation and commitment to excellence in patient care.
Unit Information:
- 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding beds
- Average daily census: 200-220 patients
- Fast-paced environment with a variety of patient types, including trauma, stroke, and burn cases
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Trauma/Stroke/STEMI/Burn cases, including GSWs, stabbings, multi-trauma, MVC, MI, CVA, hypothermia, drownings, falls, and overdoses
- Psychosis, pacing, vent management, blunt trauma
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1 based on clinical area worked or acuity
- LPN: 4:1/5:1/6:1 based on clinical area worked or acuity
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (Resource Team Requirements)
Support within the Department:
- ED Tech for ADLs, vital signs, I/O cath, foley placement, and phlebotomy
- Unit Secretary and Charge Nurse available
- 24/7 Critical Care Pharmacists, Paramedic Staff, and Hospitalist
- Telemetry monitoring
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- Unit-specific equipment: GE Ultrasounds for point of care, GE EKG machines
Orientation:
- NEO and 2 days departmental orientation
Additional Information:
