We are seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for a rewarding contract position in Monroe, NC. This is a home health-based role that will cover parts of Anson and Union counties. If you have a passion for helping adults, particularly the geriatric population, we want to hear from you!
Unit Information:
- Case Load: Based on a point system, averaging 5-6 points per day.
- Minimum Years of Experience Required: 2 years, with at least 3 months of Home Health experience (internship experience accepted).
- First-Time Travelers: Not accepted.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Adults only, mostly geriatric.
- Common conditions include CVA, TBI, dysphagia, apraxia, speech and cognition impairment, cancer patients, and aphasia.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- State license, BLS, driver's license, insurance, vehicle, and CCCs (Certification of Clinical Competency, received after CFY).
- Master's degree or above.
Skills Required:
- Ability to manage swallowing difficulties and conduct swallow studies.
- Develop and evaluate care plans, identify aspiration risks, and determine appropriate diets (soft, mechanical, etc.).
- Patient and family education.
Support within the Department:
- Another SLP available via phone if needed.
- Care Consult with the interdisciplinary team every Tuesday to discuss cases.
- Access to a manager/supervisor and scheduler for case scheduling.
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) - required.
- Unit-specific equipment: laptop, phone, and any tools for visits.
Orientation:
- 1 week of orientation with SLP teammate.
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: None.
- On-call: No.
- Holiday Expectations: No.
- Approval of RTO: OK to approve.
- Shift times: 0800 - 1700.
- Schedule cycle: Monday - Friday.
Additional Notes:
- Scrub Color: Light Gray.
- Parking: Dependent on patient housing.
