Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse in Lafayette, LA. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. As a critical member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for managing patients with various diagnoses, including chest pain, CAD, DM, PVD, and more.

Upon accepting the assignment, please be aware that your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team," where you will be expected to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your travel contract, you accept this condition and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. Candidates should not apply for this role if they are not comfortable with these expectations.

Holiday Availability: Candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Although Halloween is not a paid holiday, some units may require traveler coverage. Holiday assignments are based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation.

Patient Diagnoses: Chest pain, CAD, DM, PVD, COPD exacerbation, COVID+, TIA, stroke, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, bradycardia, tachycardia, rhythm management with cardiac drips not titrated for blood pressure, wound infection, cellulitis, GI bleed.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Pre & post angiogram/angioplasty (no sheath pulls), PPM/AICD, LINQ recorder, general surgical procedures, EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, chest tube, central line catheter insertions, thoracentesis, paracentesis.

Special Equipment: Telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, wound vacs.

Requirements:

• BLS certification
• Telemetry experience
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• 2 years of acute care experience

Preferred:

• ACLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
