Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Travel RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Chattanooga, TN. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled nurses to deliver exceptional care to patients in a dynamic environment. Our PCU is known for its collaborative team atmosphere and commitment to high-quality patient care.

Unit Specifics:

• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: 4:1
• Unit staffing description: Dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census. Nightshift has 2-3 PCTs depending on census.
• Type of equipment: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab
• Documentation system: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements:

• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling (within reason to allow balanced staffing)
• Schedule will be finalized 2 weeks in advance
• Can accommodate block scheduling for night shift

Patient Experience Requirements:

Our PCU cares for a heavy cardiac patient population, including CV surgery patients transitioning from the ICU. We perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments and chart each one fully. Common medications administered include Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetolol, Insulin, and Precedex.

Certifications Required: BLS and ACLS

Requested Skill Set: Cardiac/telemetry experience, and PCU and/or critical care experience. Advanced skills needed include IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, and Foley management.

Procedures Performed on Unit: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, ADLs.

Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Unit Guidelines/Policies: Unit specific policies and guidelines will be provided.
