Join a leading acute-care hospital in Nashville, TN as a Travel RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is an exciting opportunity for skilled nurses looking to make a difference in patient care while enjoying the vibrant culture of Nashville.

Unit Specifics:

• Number of Beds: 34 in PCU 630 and 25 in PCU 633
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Unit Staffing: 3 techs when full on 630 and 2 techs when full on 633
• Type of Equipment: Bipaps, high flow O2, vapotherm, alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, wound vacs in conjunction with wound care
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend requirement for contract, 3 12-hour shifts a week
• Floating Policy: May have to float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
• Patient Experience Requirements: Hourly rounding on days, every 2-hour rounding on nights, AIDET, and maintaining communication boards on the 7th floor

Hiring Profile Requested Skill Set:

• Must have: Critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drip, insulin drip, and heparin drip experience
• Preferred: Peritoneal dialysis experience and peripheral IV skills
• Advanced Skills Needed: ACLS certification
• Experience with: Bipaps, high flow O2, multiple oxygen delivery systems, stroke, and post-cardiac cath care
• Procedures Performed on Unit: Peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes, troubleshooting wound vacs

Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS

Dress Code: Black Scrubs

Additional Information: The unit utilizes self-scheduling with schedules created every 4 weeks. Contracts are required to work every other weekend. The unit promotes a "care like family" culture and great teamwork, making it a desirable assignment for travelers, many of whom choose to extend their contracts after their first experience on the PCU.
