Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at a leading acute-care hospital in West Bronx, NY. We are seeking experienced RNs to provide exceptional care to critically ill patients. If you are passionate about making a difference and have the required skills, we want to hear from you!

Department: MICU

Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred.

Typical Bed Count: 26 beds with typically 14 nurses per shift.

Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:1-2, can have 3 when short-staffed.

Common Diagnoses: Cardiac arrest, sepsis, neuro surgical, DKA, induced hypothermia, GI Bleed, Angioedema, and more (no trauma).

Experience: Must have some MICU experience. Equipment not typically assigned to travelers.

Drip Management: Must be able to titrate all drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, and insulin.

Charge Nurse: Charge nurse does not have a patient assignment; responds to codes/RRT.

Nurse Aids: PCTs available: 3 for day shift, 2 for night shift.

Hospitalist Coverage: Fellows/Residents in-house 24/7; attendings not on-site 24/7.

Respiratory Therapy: RTs in ICU 24/7 (2). RTs will manage equipment; nurses administer breathing treatments.

RT Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, Vents, Trachs.

Tele/Monitor Techs: Centralized Tele Monitoring at Nurses Station; no tele techs; nurses must be able to read and interpret their own tele strips.

Shifts & Scheduling: 7 PM - 7:30 AM. Travelers to provide availability; flexibility is required to fill gaps in permanent scheduling. Excessive call-ins may lead to termination.

Weekend Requirements: At least 2 weekends per 4-week schedule; Saturday & Sunday for both day and night shifts.

Holiday Requirements: May be asked to participate in the holiday rotation.

Call or Standby Requirement: None.

Floating Requirements: Travelers are the first to float; only to stepdown units with a ratio of 1:3-4.

Scrub Color: Royal Blue.

Unit Specific Orientation: 2 days of classroom training, followed by 1 day with a preceptor.
