Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse in Lafayette, LA. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated RN to provide exceptional care in a dynamic Med Surg environment. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in managing patient care and supporting their recovery.

Please ensure you are aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team," where there will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your travel contract, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event were to occur. You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with the above.

Holiday Availability: Candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Although Halloween is not a paid holiday, some units may require traveler coverage. Holiday assignments are based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation.

Unit Info: The patient diagnoses include multi-trauma, seizure, GSW, falls, TBI, stroke, sepsis, psych, epidural hematomas, epidural hemorrhage, cerebral edema, ortho-related trauma (not elective), and encephalopathy. Neuro surgery experience is also required.

Major Trauma Unit Special Procedures/Unit Details: Craniotomy, spinal fusions, ORIF, muscle flaps, skin grafts, AKA, BKA, IM nails, external fixators, spinal stimulators. Please note that you may be required to float to all other inpatient units, and we are unable to guarantee any specific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling); scheduling will be as needed per unit.

Special Equipment: Traction, external fixators, trapeze, PCA pumps, JP drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, ortho braces, hemo vacs, central lines, trach, PEG, NG tubes.

Required Certifications and Skills:

• BLS
• Blood product administration
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Pre/Post Neuro surgery
• TBIs
• Ortho trauma
• Surgical drains
• Chest tubes
• Isolation precautions

Preferred Certifications: ACLS & NIH.
