Join a leading acute-care hospital as a PCU Registered Nurse in Winston-Salem, NC! We are seeking dedicated and skilled nurses to provide exceptional care in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This contract position offers a dynamic work environment where you can make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Provide care for patients in a step-down unit, managing complex medical conditions.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications and titrate vasoactive drips as needed.
• Utilize rapid response teams and follow IV insulin protocols.
• Manage central and peripheral lines, including PICC line management.
• Perform conscious sedation and blood product administration.
• Assist with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and non-invasive airway management.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

**Required Skills and Certifications:**

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PCU/Step Down or similar setting.
• Experience with arterial lines, conscious sedation, and telemetry.
• Current ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications.
• Strong drip experience is essential.

**Patient Diagnoses:**

• Manage a variety of patient conditions including respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and post-operative care.
• Care for patients of all ages, from adolescent to geriatric.

**Unit Details:**

• Target Ratios: 1:3-4.
• Float Requirement: Floating to sister unit (ICCU) as needed.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Special Equipment: Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup; nurses must recognize and treat dysrhythmias.

**Scheduling and Attire:**

• 12-hour day shifts, with no block scheduling.
• Scrubs: Navy, White, or a combination of both.

**Additional Information:**

• Hospital orientation is required during the first week; travelers must be available for classes each day.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
