About the position:
Position / Specialty: Medical Technologist
Shift: 5x8s, 12p-830p (M-F), weekend and holiday rotation
On-call Requirement: No call
Weekend Requirement: Rotating Weekends & Holidays -- (Currently every 3rd weekend, this could change)
Floating: No, strictly Microbiology
Required Experience: I would prefer applicants with at least 3 years experience. First-timers accepted.
Education/Certifications Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline. Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification.
Highly Preferred Experience: Micro and Beaker experience, culture reading, identification, and susceptibility testing.
Experience Required: Gram stain reading, plating, and rapid PCR setup.
Details on Position: Looking for experience in plating, reading Gram stains, and performing rapid molecular testing (BioFire Torch panels and Cepheid assays).
Miscellaneous: Radius rule? Yes, 60 miles. Are locals accepted? Yes, on a case-by-case basis at 10% less than the posted bill rate.
RTO Restrictions for Client Offers: All RTO must be included at time of submission. Approval will be based on facility needs.
Guaranteed Hours: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
Medical Technologists support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. MTs prepare specimens for testing, perform routine laboratory tests, perform specialized laboratory tests, perform quality control, troubleshoot quality control errors and maintenance procedures, recognize and evaluate computer data problems, troubleshoot laboratory instruments, perform preventative maintenance, communicate technical information to medical and lay persons, assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participate in continuing education, recognize normal and abnormal values, and model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities.
