Join our team as a Laboratory Technologist at a leading healthcare facility in Brewster, WA. We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) who is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care through accurate and timely laboratory testing. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to work in various laboratory areas, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.

General Summary: The Medical Laboratory Technician performs various technical, clerical, and information systems related procedures on patient specimens, control materials, and proficiency samples. You will operate laboratory equipment within established policies to provide timely and accurate test results to physicians. This role involves monitoring quality control procedures and participating in the Laboratory Quality Improvement program.

Essential Job Duties: The following are duties and responsibilities that you will be required to perform:

• Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results.
• Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into the computer for storage.
• Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Prepare and analyze slides and specimens of human blood, tissue, or other cells.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy of laboratory results.
• Collect and study blood samples to determine cell counts, morphology, blood group, and compatibility for transfusions.
• Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
• Identify abnormalities in samples such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites, or genetic abnormalities.
• Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organizational Skills (30%): Manage time effectively to complete technical tasks within realistic time limits. Control laboratory equipment and adjust instruments to perform procedures.
• Analytical Skills (30%): Analyze and interpret laboratory results with considerable judgment across all areas of the laboratory.
• Maintenance (20%): Maintain instruments and lab sections as assigned, including scheduled maintenance and monitoring consumables.
• Specimen Collection (20%): Perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups, including venipuncture and capillary draws.
