Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse in Columbus, OH. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity for RNs with a passion for critical care nursing. You will be part of a dedicated team providing exceptional care to patients with complex medical conditions.

This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a MICU setting. You may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department's needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.

Patient Age Group: Adults, Geriatrics

Patient Diagnoses: The most common diagnoses of patients include oncologic emergencies, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), gastrointestinal bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, consequences of oncologic treatment, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Common treatments for these hemodynamically compromised patients include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis. Many patients have underlying pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions requiring bronchoscopy or endoscopy.

Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIH

Skills Required: Vents, IV Starts, Computerized Charting (EPIC required)
