Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Travel RN in the Emergency Department (ER) in Alexandria, LA. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled nurses looking to make a difference in a very high acuity unit. Contractors will encounter a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis cases, alongside some trauma patients, although this is not a trauma-designated unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Job Requirements:
- Education/Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
- Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- BLS certification via AHA required.
- ACLS certification via AHA required.
- PALS certification via AHA required.
- RN License in state of employment or compact required.
- TNCC certification required.
- De-Escalation certification required.
All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, and initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and an Emergency Department-specific competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is also necessary.
Security is onsite 24/7, ensuring a safe working environment. There is a possibility for temp-to-perm for the right candidate.
