Join a leading acute-care hospital in Las Vegas, NV, as a Travel RN in the Critical Care Float Pool. This position offers the opportunity to manage the nursing care of critically ill patients in a dynamic and supportive environment. The facility has been serving the community for nearly 60 years and is recognized for its commitment to quality healthcare.

Position Summary: As a Critical Care Float Pool RN, you will assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs in accordance with established policies and protocols. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and evaluating patient care needs
  • Carries out physician orders and administers prescribed medications
  • Changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs
  • Providing respiratory and ventilator management
  • Coordinating care among various disciplines
  • Documenting patient conditions using computerized systems
  • Instructing and educating patients and families
  • Coordinating discharge planning needs
  • Providing age and culturally appropriate care
  • Mentoring new staff members
  • Following Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment

License/Certification/Registration:

  • Current license in Nevada as a Registered Nurse (pending licenses accepted if far along in the process)
  • Current Certifications Required: BCLS/ACLS upon hire, NIHSS within 90 days
  • Preferred: CCRN
  • Passing score on Critical Care Test/Rhythm interpretation examination

Education:

  • BSN preferred; ASN accepted if enrolled in a BSN program

Experience:

  • 2 years of current acute care hospital critical care experience

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population served
  • Effective customer service and listening skills
  • Clear and concise communication abilities
  • Critical thinking and decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical ability to perform work requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Special Notes:

  • Float Pool will rotate through all areas of the ICU with various bed capacities
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: ICU 2:1, CMU 3:1
  • Teamwork is essential for patient safety; a supportive and collaborative culture is emphasized
  • Ideal candidates should thrive in high-stress situations
  • This is a Union Facility; no new grads will be considered
