Join our team as a Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) at a leading acute-care hospital in Lake Charles, LA. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated professionals looking to make a difference in the lives of critically ill patients.

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. You will perform patient assessments and institute respiratory care plans, as well as carry out various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to emergency situations (Code Blue and White).
• Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
• Deliver aerosolized drugs and manage ventilators.
• Provide oral hygiene and maintain airway support devices.
• Monitor oxygen delivery devices and conduct therapeutic monitoring.
• Perform chest film analysis, blood gas collection, and EKG analysis.
• Document accurately and completely, and participate in CAP and JC surveys.
• Function as Shift Leader or Team Leader as needed.
• Engage in advanced practice skills, including therapeutic gas management and pulmonary function testing.
• Conduct nocturnal SpO2 evaluations and transport duties.

Job Requirements:

• Education/Skills: Must hold an RT or RCP License in the state of employment.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required.
• Experience: 1 - 3 years of experience preferred, with adult ICU experience.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and holidays.
• Floating Requirement: Will float between Lake Charles and another facility.
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: 5:1 (5 vents to one therapist).
• Dress Code: Gray Scrubs.
