Position Summary:

Understands and applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations appropriate to AAMI/AORN standards of practice for sterilization. Performs Sterile Processing Tech duties as necessary. Presents an image of caring, cleanliness, and competence to promote a professional representation that meets or exceeds the expectations of our patients and the public. Acts as mentor/instructor to train, guide, and oversee the preparation/replacement of instruments and instrument trays, through the entire decontamination/sterilization process. Acts as liaison between Sterile Processing & OR and leader in Sterile Processing.

• Instructs personnel in following proper procedures for cleaning, handling, assembly and replacement of instruments and trays.
• Instructs personnel in proper procedures in the use of mechanical washers/sonics and delicate instrumentation.
• Instructs personnel in following proper procedures for sterilization.
• Controls equipment for patient care, and biomed.
• Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
• Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures that pertain to HIPAA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job position.
