This assignment offers a competitive weekly pay of $3,380, based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will support pathology services on 5x8 day shifts, working 40 hours per week, with an ASAP start date. Key Responsibilities of the Pathology Assistant
• Assist with gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under pathologist direction
• Prepare and process specimens for histology and diagnostic evaluation
• Ensure accurate specimen labeling, tracking, and documentation throughout workflow
• Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and laboratory regulations
• Support quality assurance practices and maintain organized work areas
• Communicate effectively with pathologists, lab staff, and clinical teams to ensure timely results
• Document procedures and follow departmental protocols for specimen handling and reporting
Requirements for a Pathology Assistant
• Pathologists’ Assistant education/training (PA program completion preferred)
• ASCP certification preferred where applicable
• Prior pathology assistant or grossing experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of specimen handling, lab safety, and documentation standards
