Meridian, MS

About

Meridian grew from a small community of just 15 families in the 1860s to a city boasting a population of over 37,000. It has a well-preserved historic center with many buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including the Meridian Museum of Art, housed in a 19th-century building that was once a Presbyterian church. At the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum, visitors can explore technology's past while discovering how people did things a century ago, an era when steam was king. Historic theaters like Temple Theatre offers a unique place to catch a blues show in a magnificent Moorish-Revival hall. Of the many opportunities to enjoy nature and outdoor recreation, Bonita Lakes Park is a favorite with three lakes, miles of scenic trails and picnic areas.
