Travel RN Job Details

  • Location: Winston-Salem, NC 27157 (North Carolina travel nursing jobs)
  • Facility: Comprehensive Cancer Center – 40 bed Med/Surg Oncology unit
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/15/2025 – End: 12/13/2025)
  • Shift: 12 hour day shifts (6:30am – 7:00pm), 36 hours per week
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1470 - $1570
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Coverage: Travelers work 75% of holidays
  • Scrub Color: Royal Blue
  • Parking: Free, on-site parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience (Oncology nursing experience preferred)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification (required for Resource Team)
  • ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) and OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certifications preferred
  • Proficiency in port access, blood product administration, electrolyte management, end-of-life care, pain and symptom management, PIV starts, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Travel RN Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to hematology and oncology patients, including those with leukemia and those requiring comfort or end-of-life care
  • Manage patient assignments with a typical RN ratio of 1:4-5, based on acuity
  • Perform port access, administer blood products, and manage electrolyte imbalances
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and verify telemetry strips each shift
  • Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, and hospitalists to optimize patient outcomes
  • Float within the cancer center and to other med-surg units as needed (emergency only)
  • Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
  • Contribute to a supportive unit culture focused on teamwork, clinical excellence, and professional growth
