Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49548 (Michigan psychiatric nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse

• Shift: Evening, 12-hour shifts (3 shifts per week)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Psychiatric RN or in a mental health nursing role
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Current BLS certification (Basic Life Support)

Psychiatric Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess and identify care needs for individuals and groups in a psychiatric/mental health setting
• Develop, implement, and reassess individualized nursing care plans with the interdisciplinary team
• Coordinate and provide direct nursing care in partnership with physicians and clinical staff
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and aftercare resources
• Maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
• Accurately document and report patient information in accordance with healthcare policies
• Monitor and communicate potential risks to patient safety and well-being
• Lead and coordinate staff assignments, fostering teamwork and professional development
• Promote a recovery-focused, person-centered approach within the psychiatric program
• Participate in quality improvement and process improvement initiatives
• Assist in training direct care staff and oversee medication administration and physical health activities
• Demonstrate professionalism and uphold the mission and values of our healthcare organization
