Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1470 - $1570
- Location: Orangeburg, SC 29118 (South Carolina nursing jobs)
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital – Medical Surgical Stepdown Unit
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/18/2025 – End: 2/17/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float to similar stepdown or telemetry units
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free on-site parking
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license (required prior to start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Stepdown or acute care RN experience (2 years preferred)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS and CPI certifications preferred
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Cardiac telemetry and tele competency required
- Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration)
- Previous charge nurse and community hospital experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage cardiac drips, and respond to cardiac events
- Administer medications, manage central and peripheral IV lines, and perform wound care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to similar medical-surgical or telemetry units as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR
- Participate in weekend coverage and respond to emergency situations as required
