- Healthcare Setting: Surgical Trauma Stepdown (PCU), Level 2 Trauma Center
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
- Start Date: September 29, 2025
- End Date: December 29, 2025
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit Size: 25 beds, 5th floor, Main Building
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 (max 1:5 for stepdown)
- EMR System: Meditech
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1360-$1460
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
- At least 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or stepdown RN experience
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Strong clinical skills and excellent communication abilities
- Preferred: Trauma or Orthopedic nursing experience; Meditech EMR proficiency
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients requiring acute surgical, trauma, and post-operative interventions
- Monitor and assess patients with trauma, cardiac, neurological, and surgical conditions
- Administer and titrate IV drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, etc.)
- Perform frequent patient assessments and monitor vital signs every 4 hours
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Float as needed to other stepdown units, including Heart and Vascular Unit
- Utilize Meditech EMR for accurate documentation and care coordination
- Maintain telemetry monitoring and adhere to all unit policies and clinical guidelines
