Denver Oncology RN Job Details
- Location: Denver, CO 80218 (Colorado nursing jobs)
- Unit: Blood Cancer Unit / Oncology (18 beds)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
- Duration: 13-week contract (Start: 12/15/2025 – End: 3/16/2026)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1470 - $1570
- Team Structure: 1 charge RN (no patient assignment), 3-5 RNs, 1 CNA (night shift)
- Patient Ratios: 3-4:1
- Technology: Telemetry, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Meditech EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Colorado or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (Oncology RN or Medical-Surgical RN preferred)
- Compassion for oncology and chronic patient populations
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Chemo and biotherapy certification preferred (not required; non-certified RNs will not administer chemo/biotherapy)
- Step-down nursing experience and familiarity with standing orders (fluid bolus, first fever) is a plus
Oncology RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to oncology and hematology patients
- Administer medications, blood products, and electrolyte replacements as part of clinical support
- Assist with procedures including lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies (with/without sedation), and thoracentesis
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver primary nursing care
- Follow all safety protocols for hazardous drug handling (education provided)
- Document patient care and progress in Meditech EMR
- Contribute to a positive team culture focused on mutual support, professional development, and patient-centered care
